গত দুই মৌসুম পৃষ্ঠপোষক ছাড়াই প্রথম শ্রেণির ক্রিকেট টুর্নামেন্ট জাতীয় ক্রিকেট লিগ আয়োজন করেছিল বিসিবি। এবার মধুমতি ব্যাংক হয়েছে জাতীয় লিগের পৃষ্ঠপোষক। আজ মিরপুর শেরেবাংলা স্টেডিয়ামের সংবাদ সম্মেলনকক্ষে আয়োজিত এক সংবাদ সম্মেলনে এই ঘোষণা দেওয়া হয়েছে।
জানা গেছে, দুই কোটি টাকা দিয়ে জাতীয় লিগের ২৬তম আসরের স্পনসরশিপ কিনে নিয়েছে মধুমতি ব্যাংক। কাল থেকে চার ভেন্যুতে আট দলের এই আসরের প্রথম রাউন্ডের খেলা শুরু হবে।
খুলনার শেখ আবু নাসের স্টেডিয়ামে মুখোমুখি হবে গতবারের চ্যাম্পিয়ন ঢাকা ও রানার্সআপ সিলেট বিভাগ। বগুড়ার শহীদ চান্দু স্টেডিয়ামে খেলবে চট্টগ্রাম–রংপুর। সিলেট আন্তর্জাতিক স্টেডিয়ামের মূল মাঠে হবে খুলনা–রাজশাহীর ম্যাচ, পাশের মাঠে বরিশাল খেলবে ঢাকা মেট্রোর বিপক্ষে।

নাজমূল আবেদীন বলেছেন, জাতীয় লিগের প্রতি সর্বোচ্চ মনোযোগই দেবেন তাঁরা। প্রথম শ্রেণির ক্রিকেটের এই আসরকে সফল এবং আরও প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতাপূর্ণ করতে কিছু উদ্যোগও নিয়েছে বিসিবি। নাজমূল বলেন, ‘ক্রিকেট বোর্ডের একজন মনোবিদ আছেন। যিনি কানাডাতে থাকেন, প্রয়োজনে আসেন। তাঁর সঙ্গে জাতীয় লিগের কোচ-অধিনায়কেরা অনলাইনে অনেকগুলো সেশন করবেন। প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতাপূর্ণ ক্রিকেট খেলায় অস্ট্রেলিয়া-ইংল্যান্ডের সংস্কৃতিটা যাতে আমরা এখানে ঢোকাতে পারি, সেটা দেখব।’
মাঠে থেকে জাতীয় লিগের খেলা দেখা, দল নির্বাচনে জাতীয় লিগের পারফরম্যান্সকে গুরুত্ব দেওয়ার কথাও বলেছেন নাজমূল আবেদীন, ‘এত দিন বাইরে থেকে এটাই বলে আসছি যে আমাদের ক্রিকেটের জন্য জাতীয় লিগই সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ জায়গা। সবচেয়ে বড় কথা, আমরা চেষ্টা করব মাঠে থাকতে। মাঠে গিয়ে নিজেরা দেখতে চাইব যে আসলে কী হচ্ছে।’

Last time champion Dhaka and runner-up Sylhet Division will meet at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna. Chittagong-Rangpur will play at Shahid Chandu Stadium in Bogra. The Khulna-Rajshahi match will be played on the main field of Sylhet International Stadium, Barisal will play against Dhaka Metro on the side field.
The final round of the national league of the single league system will begin on November 30. After this competition of four-day matches, the National League T20 will be held with these eight teams. T-Sports is sponsoring the inaugural National T20 League. Apart from this, BCB has also got sponsor for Dhaka first, second and third division leagues. Meghna Bank will sponsor these three leagues this season.
BCB Director Nazmul Abedin, Madhumati Bank Deputy Managing Director Shahnewaz Chowdhury, Chief Business Officer Kamrul Hasan and Chief Risk Officer Faizur Rahman were present at the National League press conference.
Nazmul Abedin said that they will pay maximum attention to the national league. BCB has also taken some initiatives to make this first class cricket event successful and more competitive. Nazmul said, 'There is a psychologist in the cricket board. One who lives in Canada, comes in need. Coach-captains of the national league will have many sessions online with him. We will see that we can infuse the culture of Australia-England in competitive cricket.'
Nazmul Abedin also said about watching National League games from the field, giving importance to National League performance in team selection, 'I have been saying this from outside for so long that National League is the most important place for our cricket. Most importantly, we will try to stay on the field. I would like to go to the field and see for myself what is really happening.'
